Bo Nitzor
"I received grant money from IC Hillel and Stand With Us to create community on the Ithaca Campus in 2019"(Kyle Friedman) "Through this festival we'd like to show that artists can't be stopped by a pandemic. We'll still find ways to create...I think that related back to our theme. This festival's "higher power" has been the many obstacles in completion. From moving online to bandwitdh issues, we're still finding ways to create community. Together we've created a space to share work. If Bo Nitzor could inspire at least one student, we've done our job."
Our theme
Our theme comes from a loose interpretation of Israel; meaning "struggling with a higher power/authority." What an incredible time for these stories. Since the festivals initial launch in August, we've seen tons of stories about struggle. Rules and regulations keeping us safe and in lockdown, diverse communities fighting for equal rights, a switch of presidential power, a school closure, the struggles of zoom! Possibilities are endless. This theme perfectly encapsulates life in the year 2020.

Stand with US
Kyle Friedman is a Bay Area/NY based creator who's had the privilege of working in film and theatre(at a student level). He received the BICEP Internship funding from IC Hillel and Stand With Us after responding "I'm not doing anything else this winter" when asked to go on Birthright in Israel this past December. That morphed into a "sure, I'm not doing anything else right now" when offered the BICEP grant and a "why not" when offered Hillel's Jewish Learning Fellowship. "From the beggning, I knew I wanted to use the money to build community and I think we've started doing that!"

Max started as the Springboard Innovation Fellow at IC Hillel in July 2020. In his free time he is a choral and musical theatre composer, and loves creating and seeing what others create. This project was super exciting to work on to see what others can create during this crazy time. Max is a huge believer in the subjectivity of art creation, it needs to be seen by people so they can react to it. This project is giving people the chance to showcase their work, and that’s what we need right now. He is extremely thankful to Kyle for all his hard work in giving people the opportunity to have their work seen! Insta @kaslerandwilkie www.kaslerandwilkie.com
